Chanticleers 23rd Annual Awards Night
Stars of our local community theater gathered together on Sunday, January 8th to celebrate Chanticleers Theatre’s 23rd Annual Awards Night. Our own version of the Academy Awards, the evening was filled with entertaining scenes from all the 2016 shows, “outstanding award” presentations and plenty of humor from Master of Ceremonies, Brook Robinson.
Awards were decided on the basis of judges’ votes. Ten independent “secret” judges attend all the 2016 season shows and use a point system to evaluate actors’ performances, set design, costumes, etc. The highest scoring nominee in each category is then announced at the January awards ceremony each year. Jer’s award was very special, in the form of a miniature “porcelain throne” in reference to the role he played in project managing the upgraded new restrooms at Chanticleers last summer. Chanticleers’ Artistic Director, John Baiocchi delivered a special note of recognition and thanks to all who contributed on the technical, behind-the-scenes side of all the 2016 productions.
The evening ended with the unveiling of posters for Chanticleers’ 2017 Season shows: Rumors, director John Maio; Wait Until Dark, director Michael Sally; Elvis Has Left the Building, director Jacob Russell-Synder; and The Addams Family, A New Musical, director John Baiocchi.
Following the awards presentation, everyone enjoyed a champagne and dessert reception.
Congratulations to all on a very successful 2016 season. Chanticleers Theatre is grateful to all the actors, crew and volunteers who made 2016 a great year for the theatre and all the audience members who enjoyed the results of your work. We thank you!
